There is a saying in the military "it's not official until their boots are on the ground", which translates to, just because they gave you a time and date doesn't mean anything until their boots hit the dirt in front of you!
That was this homecoming. They don't tell us what causes the time delays or the changes only that it's been pushed back a few hours or a day, or that he's been moved from this wave of soldiers to the next. My heart broke for this amazing and strong momma each time word came down that it was going just a little longer for her to hold her other half in her arms.
Having been through this myself I understand the anxiety, impatience, and frustration that comes with those changes. Not to mention just a twinge of sadness and anger that they are messing with your carefully laid plans...even if you didn't have any!
Thankfully in the end she and her boys only had to wait a few extra hours, but after 9 months of waiting and worry a few hours can feel like eons.... Congratulations Bennett family on getting your daddy back!
You know you're a Momma of boys when.....
His says "You are hero Welcome home" and Her is "Mr. Bennett get your butt over here & give me a kiss"
A family friend brought this balloons and they were a hit with all the little kids! Little C was fascinated.
The moment when it really hits Big C that daddy is actually coming home. He had watched the bus pull up pass the window in the hangar door and it finally hit home that his Daddy was just on the other side of that door. Mrs. B said that was the biggest and brightest smile she had seen on him in months.
I often wonder which is better your first embrace or your second first embrace?
Little C wasn't sure what sure about Daddy at first, but we warmed up pretty fast.
Aren't they a gorgeous family?!
He's not excited for daddy to be home at all.....
With all my heart welcome home Mr. Bennett and congratulations Bennett family on being whole once more!
