This week I had the opportunity to do a little exploring with some fellow photographers and friends of mine! Originally we had wanted to make it all the way up to Laie, which is on the Northeastern corner of the island, but... as with most exploring trips like this that I take with my friends, we get to having too much fun, get distracted and only make it half way or so before we have to head home! Our first stop was Sandy beach for just a second before we popped over to Makapu'u Beach!
The kiddos stayed in the car for the first few stops, since the surf was up and those spots weren't as kid friendly in those conditions.
This island is truly gorgeous. I am going to really miss it when we leave.
Our next stop was just a hop, skip and jump down the road at the Makai Pier! The kiddos were SO excited to finally be able to get out and play!
This little girl is a mover and a shaker! She is determined to things on her own and she is good at it.
I am going to miss this blue blue water!
Our final stop was the Ho`omaluhia Botanical Garden in Kaneohe. It took a bit of looking within the gardens itself, which you can actually drive through if you don't want to walk, to find the exact spot we wanted. It was totally worth it though!
We do a lot of nap times in the car, but it's a rare thing for me to be able to sneak a picture of their sweet faces! As for the others in this series... My Ames, the oldest little redhead here, is extremely shy even around people she knows. It was amazing how quickly she warmed up to my friends kids! When my girlfriend's son grabbed her hand and started walking, it completely melted my heart.
All these kiddos wanted to do was get as close to the lake as possible and watch the duckies! It gave me a heart attack every time the girls started running toward the edge. It wasn't one of those gentle grades toward the center of the lake, but more of a foot or so drop off right off the bat!
It was very obvious that they were getting tired there at the end, because Ames was getting more sassy and Loo kept trying to steal my phone. Luckily one of my friends had a carrier for me to barrow to lug Loo back, cause there was no way she was walking on her own and at one point I was carrying Ames on my back the same time. I wish I had thought to get a picture of it. I am sure we looked awesome!
If you enjoyed my week pop over to Damara's blog and see how her's went!
