Every year around New Years I see so many people start posting their resolutions, which gets me thinking about my own and the past year. To be honest I have always been bad at doing the whole New Years resolutions thing, and inevitability I fail by March, give or take. I make all the usual resolutions loose more weight, drink less soda, eat less junk, exercise more, etc, but nothing has stuck and I could not ever figure out why until now. Come to find out I have been doing it wrong this whole time, go figure! haha I needed to have a better reason to be setting a resolutions or a goal, then just because I felt like I was "suppose" to or I "should". By doing that I was basically setting myself up for failure. I needed a real reason for wanting to achieve my goals or there was no way I was ever going to be able to finish them. Well no more! This year I am making a few changes. I the resolutions I am setting have actual meaning to me and I am also picking a out a theme for my year, to help give me focused. Typically for a theme of this sort it would be just one word, but considering what this year has in store for us, I thought two words would be better. I went through a few before I found the two, that I felt best encompasses what I want for my year. These two are not only great on their own, but they are synonymous with several of the other words I had wanted to use. So here they are, drum-roll please.......
1- having or showing determined courage in the face of difficulties.
: brave, courageous, bold, daring, fearless, intrepid, spirited, game, valiant, valorous, stouthearted, dauntless, resolute, determined, undaunted, unflinching, audacious, unafraid, doughty and mettlesome.
1- truly what something is said to be; authentic.
s: authentic, real, bona fide, true, veritable
2 - (of a person, emotion, or action) sincere.
: sincere, honest, truthful, straightforward, direct, frank, candid, open
As for My resolutions for the year, there aren't too many so far. With working on getting my business off the ground I have feeling I will be adding many to them later, so I thought I would start small for now.
My 2016 Resolutions
-To love myself better as I am and to give myself more grace
- Find better balance in my life
- Teach my girls to love themselves, each other and others unconditionally
- To not take a entire year to venture out and explore our new home, wherever that may be
- Finish my degree
- Get my business going
- Give up soda (I have almost accomplished this one already! Just need to kick the occasional one and I will be good.)
I can honestly say I am excited about what this year will bring, despite still not knowing where the military is going to send us in just a couple months! Here is a to a new year and a new way of looking at things. Do you have any resolutions or a theme for your year? If so what are they?
